Step Eight

 Hi Guys,

last homework before the final presentation (and holidays =p). 

How was your last week? For me, it was good! I was in Las Vegas again but this time I didn't lose (or win either)! We just have one life so let's having fun!

So this week , we have to talk about the case that we did last week. My group got Zappos case.

 

Before doing this case, I never heard about Zappos, not even an idea. Ok I have an idea but it was so far from what I thought (I thought that it was a website like ehow.com or something like).  So before starting reading the website http://www.ignitesocialmedia.com/social-media-examples/zappos-social-media-example/ and the questions of the case, we did some research about this. And actually, it’s an online shoe and apparel shop currently based in Henderson, Nevada. The company was founded in 1999 by Nick Swinmurn. In 2009, Amazon bought it for $1.2 billion.

Zappos is present in the main social media networks not only the company itself but also Zappos employees. Indeed, they want to spread out the culture of the company and be closed to the customers. As social media networks that Zappos use, we can mention Twitter with his 1 873 644 followers; Facebook with 186,429 likes and 9,227 who talked about this; Youtube with 2,552 subscribers. They also have a blog with the news trends, news clothes, promotions, etc. The goal of Zappos is to involve the customers in some decisions. The customer feels like a part of the company. Take as example Zappos facebook fan page, there was a picture competition and the winner can see his picture as profil picture on the fan page of the company.

To conclude, it’s funny to see how a big company like Zappos uses social media networks to have a good image, to promote their products and good services.

Hey classmates! how was your week end? Amazing I hope!
I was in San Francisco and it was just awesome! I visited Pier 39, CASTRO (gay district =p), Chinatown, etc! and it's a real town with building, real streets and there are not fields! ;)

SO this week we have to talk about our stats on our Blog, LinkedIn and Twitter

Blogger

The stats of my blog surprise me! Indeed, from the moment when I created the blog to now, there are 222 people who saw my blog. I know that it's not a lot but for me it is because it's a Social Media Marketing class and I thought that just people from this class will see my blog. But I think my friends from France saw my blog too! According to the "pages seen by countries", I notice that my blog has been visited by 155 people from USA, 53 people from France but I don't really understand why russian people visited my blog!! But it's funny to see these stats!

LinkedIn

Concerning my LinkedIn account, its stats are not the same than than my blogs's stats! I have my 5 groups that I follow and  just one person viewed my linkedIn page...I have no friend.

Twitter

I follow 20 people but only 11 follow me and 5 tweets. It's not many but it's because of my presence in this social media that-is-to-say hardly ever... I created this twitter account just for this class.

 

Step Six

Return on investment isn't a easy topic but I'll explain you what is my point of view.

 
Return on investment is one way of considering profits in relation to capital invested. The scheme is:
- attract visitors
- provoque an use
- monetize

Take for example the humourist "Norman".  He makes some podcasts on Youtube. It requires some imagination but espcially some time because Norman has to write his scenarii, to set up and play. People like his humour and his videos were seen more than 46 million times. Norman provoques an use because his fans are always waiting the future video. And finally, his return on investment is positive. Indeed, his videos are so famous that brands pay him to put an ad before his videos. And that's how he earns a living

Hey dear classmates =)

An other post to do for today. But before this, Halloween is next week and I'm pretty sure that you are gonna do a big party this saturday! So where will you go?
For my part, I will go to Santa Barbara with Madjid, Matty, my roommate Alvina and other people that I don't know =). But We all gonna have fun!!

        So I explore Internet this week in order to find out some good deal in California because I'm only a student with a student budget that-is-to-say no a lot of money. I found Groupon, who is a deal-of-the-day website that features discounted gift certificates usable at local or national companies. The advantage is that we can find some good deals like restaurants, hotels, activities to do for a low price. It's easy to sign out and to use. We just have to take a look for what I'm interested and purchase. After this, we receive the deal, then we have to print it and show it at the restaurant or hotel.

It's valuable because it's available on 150 cities in USA so we have the choice. If I'm in Inland Empire I can find a good deal but I want to travel so I can find a good deal in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York or even Paris! Because Yes I'm french and I was happy to see that it's a website with multiple markets, not only in USA but also in Europe and especially in Paris =)

Las Vegas

Hey classmates!!

I saw that I didn't write a personal post so let's talk about my week end =)

      So last Saturday I didn't know what to do so with Madjid we wondered where we can go and finally we decided to go to...LAS VEGAS baby!
It was the second time for me but it was still beautiful by night. And this time I "just" lost $40 (the first time I lost $200). We slept in a motel and it was the worst hotel I've ever been! There was a big bug!! beurkk

     Even if it was beautiful, and a little addicted by slot machines, I realized that it's a superficial city where it's all about money and seeming but it's was good experience to see this famous city. Fortunately there are some interesting site outside like the Redrock

Step Three

Hey guys! =)
The Weather is better than last week!! We are not in California for nothing! 

Tomorrow we have an exam, so sad... I am feeling I'm on holidays because of the sun, the 9 hours of class per week BUT NO we have also homework and exams ;)

 

So for this week we have to talk about 5 people or organizations that we follow on TWITTER! 

LA Times

     The first organization that I follow is LA Times because I’m in the US for a quarter. I have to keep track of what is going on in this country in politics, economics, etc. These following shows to everybody that not only do I live and study in the USA but I’m also interested in the news, the culture and I want to know different aspects of this country.

      Even if I’m not in France, I’m still following what is happening over there. For example, there was the “socialist primary” last week. I know that François Hollande won it and he might become the future President of France. It’s really important to be connected not only for my personal knowledge but also not to be lost when I will come back in France later.

Bruno Mars

     I also follow a famous singer, Bruno Mars. I really like this artist and I want to know if he will release an album or a single soon, if his new clip is online and what his tour dates are. This can help me because it shows that I love music and I have some centers of interest.

Monsieur Dream

     I also follow “Monsieur Dream” a.k.a Cyprien, a French humorist who posted several podcasts on the social media Youtube. He’s very famous in France and has created the buzz every time. He posted a new podcast last week where he responded to another podcaster who was making fun of him saying “Cyprien the Down’s syndrome guy” or stuffs like that. The video was seen 4 million times in just one week. This allows me to be in touch with the buzz of the moment and the last news. 

Madjid Asmani

     Finally, I follow organizations and famous people but I also follow Madjid, a friend of mine. It’s important to keep in touch with our friends because it’s the real life and I don’t want to become a geek ;). I can know where is he, what’s he’s doing, his state of mind, etc.

      All these tweets that I am following help me to build my brand because in add of all the reasons that I stated earlier, it allows me to be connected with the world. I can find people who have the same interests than me. I can also give my point of view such as “I disagree with the politics of Mr X because Reason Y” or “I find very funny the new podcast of Mr Z”.  Or I can also create a debate with my point of view concerning a new legislation in France, etc.

      Following tweets shows that I am responsive on internet especially in Twitter where we have a tweet every second. If we respond or read a topic one week after his publication, we are beside the topic because other news already came out.
Twitter works like that because it’s easy to use (finally it’s easy for me whereas I thought at first it was difficult), we are able to follow people and organizations that we like or tweet with just one sentence about our mood, where we are, etc.

I'm a little bit late in my homeworks... we have social media marketing tomorrow!
But I have to do a post and the topic is interesting it doesn't bother me to write this =)

So why it is important to market ourselves?

           Nowadays, there is a lot of competition to find a job, an internship. So we have to distance ourselves from other people. There are differents ways to get there.

How to build our brand online?

           We can use social media in order to be seen and to be known. We always have to be active and responsive because social media (or even Internet) change everyday! We have to be not only present but also interact with others, for example in a forum to discuss about something really interesting, or respond to a post on a blog in order to give our own point of view. But our responses need to be relevant. That is important to make a deep impression on people by our intelligent response which can allow a debat. That's how people can remember us.

Finally, the most important is to build credibility in the professional environment.

I have to talk about the social media marketing so let's go!

I choose this class because my major is business and everyone knows that, nowadays, Social Media plays an important role in business.
Everyone has a facebook account and knows how to use it but does anyone know how firms use facebook in order to reach us as potential consumers? This is one of the points I would like to understand and to use it for my future internship. Indeed, I found an internship in a Golf Country Club and I will be in charge of management, marketing and organize events thanks to facebook and twitter. I have some knowledge in facebook but I have no idea what is really twitter or blogger (and how to use it!) so this class can be an opportunity to improve my skills in differents social networks.

I hope to talk with you, my classmates, and have fun together!
